Racing Spirit Where-it-All-Began Tee
Brooklands opened in 1907 and was the world's first purpose-built racetrack. It was a 2.75-mile (4.43 Km) circuit near Weybridge in Surrey, England, with competition continuing thorough 1939 when it closed. Built in 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was the second racetrack built. Capable of holding an estimated 400,000 attendees, it is the highest capacity sports venue in the world. The track is a 2.5-mile (4.0 Km) rectangular oval that remains essentially unchanged since its construction. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza (in Monza, Italy) was built in 1922 and is the world's third purpose built racetrack. Located in the heart of the Royal Villa of Monza, the circuit has hosted, except for 1980, all of the Formula One Italian Grand Prix races. These are the tracks where Racing Spirit all began!
