Racing Spirit Boyle-Special Tee
In 1938, the U.S. motorsport personality Wilbur Shaw pointed at one of the Maserati's racing at Roosevelt Raceway in NY and told team owner Michael Boyle: If I had a car like that, I'd win the next 500 mile race. That was a proposition Boyle could not turn down. The 1938 Maserati 8C.T.F. (Serial Number 3032), AKA the Boyle Special, became the most successful automobile to compete at the Indianapolis 500, having won twice in both 1939 and 1940 (as well as finishing third twice and fourth once). To this day, the Boyle Special remains unchallenged in its place as the most accomplished single automobile to ever race at the Speedway.
